I am very fortunate to have been awarded a Teacher Fellowship
by the Royal Society of New Zealand.
Here I will endeavour to keep you up to date with my project that I am
undertaking this year, based at Auckland Zoo.
I am very excited about the year ahead...
Here are the objectives for my Fellowship.
My Project:
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF CONSERVATION PROGRAMMES IN ZOOS AND THEIR IMPACT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY?
1. To research the role zoos play in animal conservation and how science and technology support these programmes.
2. To compare the role of Auckland Zoo's breeding and conservation programmes with those in other zoos and organisations throughout New Zealand, and overseas zoos that have ties to Auckland Zoo.
3. To measure the impact of some conservation programmes on the community through the zoo's education programmes.
